Dublin highlights: Trinity College; The National Museum of Archaeology and History; The Guinness brewery at St. James Gate (finally a tour); St. Stephen's Green; Christ Church; Temple Bar galleries and pubs; Grafton Street shopping; doors on Georgian row houses; and of course Dublin Castle, a functioning government building, site of many State events -- and our last castle tour

Exhausted, we found a nice suburban pub for our last dinner. Then a few hours sleep and an early flight back to the states

In seven days we covered a little more than 1,690 km (about 1,050 miles); snapped more than 1,000 photos; consumed about 105 liters of diesel and close to 30 pints of good Irish stout (we liked Beamish best). We walked upwards of 40 miles through narrow streets, medieval castles, grand estates, ancient ruins, gardens great and gardens small, a crystal factory, a brewery and a stud farm

In all, a really wonderful trip

    • Christ Church...
    • ...why a rooster?
      • Dublin Castle
        • Our last castle of the week
        • Let's take the tour
        • The only castle where we could take photographs inside
        • Victoria, Albert and Alec
        • Who goes there?
          • The Temple Bar
            • We did more than 8 miles on foot our last day - though I suppose not everyone was impressed
