From Killarney we continued southeast to Cork

Cork City is an island city situated between the north and south forks of the River Lee. It's also a great eating and shopping city

We browsed the English Market in the center of town and although a nice-sized farmers market, all agreed that we prefer the old Farmers Market in Los Angeles. After lunch at a bistro on a narrow Cork lane, we crossed one of the many bridges off the island to St. Finn Barre's Cathedral where we admired the gates, gargoyles and gravestones

About 15 miles south of Cork is Kinsale, a seaside town on the west Cork coast. And just south of that is the Old Head of Kinsale, a windy headland that reminded us of the Northern California coast (sans redwoods)

A German U-Boat torpedoed the British passenger liner Lusitania on May 7th 1915 just off the Old Head promontory
