DAY ONE

We arrived in Dublin early in the morning, rented a car and headed west

Our first stop was the Irish National Stud where Col. William Hall-Walker began breeding horses in 1900. He believed that the fate of every creature was dictated by the stars, and he built skylights into each stall so that the heavens could exert their influence. It may sound nutty but he did produce a enviable number of winners. In 1943 Col. Hall-Walker gave the horses, grounds, and beautiful Japanese gardens as a gift to the state

Spring babies were in abundance throughout the trip: lambs, calves and here, some foals with their moms
